Well, well six years have past since ”furry & fine”,so whats been going on during all these years? A whole lot actually. Mr. Mornings been through a period of transition, or maybe searching is a more appropriate word. We felt kind of trapped into the jamband and rock genre. We asked us; what are we doing, where are we heading?
Anyway, after wed played in Plauen 2003 we heard some amazing jam grass music by Yonder Mountain Stringband, which totally blew our socks off, and that sort of kicked the ball in a new direction. Ants started to creep and crawl in the back of our heads. Old records were dug out from hiding places deep in the collections and new names were added to our listening lists.
In asking ourselves from where our musical roots emanated we naturally came to completely different conclusions, but tried to blend all our new and old influences within the realms of Mr.Morning. Of course this was(and is) not an easy task. We pulled and stretched in at least five different directions, old mountain music, bluegrass, folk, early Grateful Dead, Sun Ra, Flying Burrito bros., Gram Parson, Meat Puppets, Hank Williams, Merle Haggard Johnny Cash, the Youngbloods, John McLaughlin, John Hartford, Gene Clark, Ryan Adams, a whole lot of Americana, old kraut – Can, Amon Duul, are just a few of all the ingredients that went down in the melting pot.
After experimenting with acoustic instruments and mixing electric and acoustic, that sound kind of stuck with us. It brought something homey and melodic to the mix... Well,”The sweet smell of Butterflying”is the result of some of our trials and tribulations over the past years, and our effort to blend together all the different flavors and spices to a nutritious and healthy stew, All for you toe enjoy! Hope youll like it. We do! |
